Frosted Favourite: Canada
Kicking Horse Mountain Resort - Golden, Canada.
I think it makes perfect sense to kick off my first travel recommendation with something I've been dreaming about ever since I left. As you may know, I spent 2 years in Canada and two winter seasons at a ski resort snowboarding and just loving life. After this experience I do consider myself somewhat of an authority on the snow, snowboarding and the great spots in Canada (from my own perspective).

So it's safe to say that my first travel recommendation for all you snow dogs and bunnies out there is this great little spot in the heart of the BC rockies, Canada.
Kicking Horse Mountain Resort can be found along the Trans-Canada highway towering over the small town of Golden (about an hour and a half west from the popular Albertan town of Banff and two hours east of Revelstoke Mountain) and is what some consider the best advanced mountain in an area that is littered with great powder spots.

The best part about this place is it's location. Golden isn't the biggest and most well known town to tourists, but it is (together with it's main attraction, Kicking Horse Mountain) a red hot favourite amongst locals, Albertans and British Columbians. This calls for less lines on lifts, more room to move on runs and more domination during pow days. The eagle express gondola is perfect to ensure you don't spend all day on chairlifts to the top of this gigantic mountain, taking you straight from the base to the summit. This tradtional mountain location offers an incredible amount of different terrain and generally a great yearly base to work with, being especially evident in the beautiful open bowl runs such as "Feuzbowl".
Kicking Horse is what I believe to be the essence of western Canada and although not very well known in the shadow of popular resorts like Whistler/Blackcomb and Big White, it is a must see/experience for some of the best snow in Canada. For the best experience possible, make sure to study the weather and hit it on a pow day.
